Housing Scrutiny Meeting, Lambeth. After some scrutiny, we found lies and misinformation..
Sat through the Housing Scrutiny meeting, boring when you haven’t got a clue what’s being talked about, but interesting when a member of the public asks a question, because it’s in plain English.
The overwhelming impression you leave with is that the officers lie a lot, but unless members of the public are there to set the record straight, the lies go down as a true record of the situation that’s being discussed.
I hate to say it, but if you can bear to go to these things it’s the only way the council’s lies get disputed.
As far as ‘Shortlife’ goes, Robbins and Sharpe trotted out the party line, ‘nobody can be allowed to stay in their homes, we need the money’. We argued against Robbins’ & Sharpe’s mealy mouthed rhetoric and made sure everyone knew our position.
Posters were good, held above our heads so everyone on the committee could see what we wanted to say, essential because there’s hardly any time allocated so you have to try and be pushy to get your points across.
